Find assets in a storm’s path

Which substations or pipelines need closer attention?

The finished answer: An asset shortlist with the intersecting weather feature, valid time and supporting attributes.

Try the complete recipe

AccuWeather-issued alert geometry + mapped asset records + boundary intersection → a saved exposure shortlist. The existing matching engine supplies these recorded results.

Weather ingredients

These catalog parameters are part of the recipe. Dataset products such as warning geometry or gauge stage are linked below too.

Ingredients you bring

  • Asset points, line geometry or service territories
  • Which hazard types matter for those assets
  • Spatial relationship and review window

These are not supplied automatically by a weather API.

The method

  1. Choose the GIS storm/warning footprint appropriate to the question.
  2. Filter features by their valid period and hazard attributes.
  3. Intersect the weather geometry with asset points or lines.
  4. Inspect matches and optionally retrieve Enterprise forecasts for those sites.
CHOOSE THE DELIVERY PATH

GIS is a strong fit for existing asset-layer workflows. Enterprise also supports custom spatial applications.

Enterprise

AccuWeather-issued alert GeoJSON can power a custom app’s own intersection logic; location forecasts supply additional details.

GIS or a hybrid

Use warning polygons or Storm Path with your existing ArcGIS asset layers; query/filter and overlay directly.
